Dear Friends,
We write tonight from Squirrel Hill, Pittsburgh – headquarters of Sacred Spaces. Our hearts are heavy following this unimaginably difficult Shabbat – one in which a sacred place of prayer was desecrated by hate. Eleven of our Pittsburgh community members were murdered while praying at Tree of Life, a local synagogue just down the block from Sacred Spaces. These individuals were each holy souls who we will not forget.
Squirrel Hill is a small, tight-knit Jewish community, an extended family. So tonight we mourn this tragedy with you, our extended family, and ask that you join us in praying for the injured and the families of the deceased.
We are grateful for the outpouring of support and love we have been receiving – your messages mean so much to us at this time. May our entire nation find comfort, and may we live to see a day when this senseless violence is no more.
In grief,
Shira Berkovits, Founder and Chief Executive Officer
Ilene Rinn, Chief Operating Officer
